Privacy and cookies

In short: we only use what we need to sell you an umbrella and vend it. You don't need an account, and we don't ask for your name, address or phone number. Your card details go straight to SumUp, never to us. There are no advertising, tracking or analytics cookies on this site.
Who we are
VendaBrolly is a trading name of Venda Group Limited, which is responsible for the personal information described on this page.
Questions about your information: email support@venda.group or call 01227 255 000.
What we collect
- Your order: the machine number, the date and time, the price, any offer or discount code used, and whether the umbrella vended or the payment was refunded.
- Your payment: you pay in SumUp's secure payment form. Your card details go directly to SumUp; we never see or store them. SumUp tells us whether the payment went through and gives us a transaction reference. If you enter your email address in SumUp's form, SumUp uses it to send your receipt. We don't keep it or use it for marketing.
- A photo at the machine: some machines have a small camera inside the dispensing area. It takes a picture as the umbrella drops, so we can check the machine worked and answer refund questions. It points at the chute, not at people, although a hand reaching in may appear.
- Technical information: like any website, the companies that host this site keep basic technical records, such as IP addresses and browser types, to keep it running and secure.
Why we use it
- To sell you the umbrella: taking the payment, vending the umbrella, and refunding you automatically if it doesn't vend. This is needed to carry out our contract with you.
- To keep the records the law requires: sales and refund records for our accounts and tax.
- To run the service properly: checking machines work, preventing fraud and misuse, and dealing with your questions or complaints. This is in our legitimate interests, and we keep it to what's needed.
Who we share it with
- SumUp, which processes card payments. SumUp handles your card details under its own privacy policy.
- Companies that host our website and database, and send emails for us, under contracts that only let them use the information to provide those services.
- The police or other authorities, only if the law requires it.
We never sell your information or use it for advertising. Some of our service providers may store information outside the UK. When they do, it's protected by the safeguards UK law requires, such as UK adequacy regulations or approved contract terms.
How long we keep it
| Information | Kept for |
|---|---|
| Order and payment records | 6 years, for our accounts and tax |
| Photos taken at the machine | 90 days, then deleted automatically |
| Technical records kept by our hosting companies | A short time, for security and fixing faults |
| Your language choice | On your own device, until you clear your browser's data |
Cookies and similar technology
This site doesn't use advertising, tracking or analytics cookies, so there's no cookie banner to accept. The only things stored are:
- Your language: if you pick a language, your browser remembers it so the page opens in that language next time. It stays on your device and isn't sent to us. Clearing this site's data in your browser removes it.
- SumUp's payment form: when you pay, SumUp's form may set cookies it needs to take the payment securely and prevent fraud. These are essential for the payment you've asked to make.
The site's fonts and images are served from our own website, so loading the page doesn't send your details to anyone else.
Your rights
You can ask us for a copy of the information we hold about you, and ask us to correct it, delete it, limit how we use it, or object to how we use it. To make a request, contact us using the details above. We'll reply within one month. It helps if you tell us the machine number and roughly when you bought the umbrella.
If you're unhappy with how we've used your information, please tell us first so we can put it right. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
Changes to this page
We'll update this page if the way we use information changes. The date at the top shows when it last changed.
